YOU ARE THE DANCING QUEEN

Daniel EGGLI
Daniel EGGLI

Daniel Eggli’s instrument is the chain-saw. He is fascinated by its speed and the dynamic that arises during the carving. Out of one solid piece of wood he forms figures that are extracted from the everyday world: businessmen, women reading, divers and swimmers, hunters on the prowl or girls standing on a chair looking into the distance. The power saw helps the artist not to get lost in the details. All of his sculptures are characterized by clear, reduced contours and a lack of individual traits. The faces remain anchored in the abstract: “Because my works do not refer to specific people, but focus on the figure, as such they can be understand as a symbol for different social groups”

Born in 1972 he studied at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK). His sculptures are regularly shown at national and international exhibitions and Art fairs. For his artistic work, Eggli received awards from the ZHdK in 2001 and the Perincioli-Foundation in 2006.
